Welcome to our website about home gardening. Our gardening site has been reduced and we have now moved to planters. We currently have 7 cedar planters, 2″ x 4″ in size, that are much easier to work with. It currently isn’t very easy to see in the picture on the right but we have incorporated a cattle panel garden trellis this year. We are hoping to have tomatoes, pole beans, and cucumbers climbing that trellis before long.

So far this year we have planted potatoes, and beets, in a small ground area. In the cedar planters we have planted lettuce, tomatoes, pole beans, peas, carrots, radishes, cucumbers, and sweet peppers to go along with our strawberry plants. We have onion and garlic in large pots and we still have watermelons, cantaloupes to get in the ground. We are also experimenting with some fruit plants this year. We have blueberries, blackberries, grapes, and we have a lemon tree to plant in the garden. We are also incorporating lots of beneficial plants such as flowers and herbs, hopefully that will help with more pollinators and less pests.

Since we moved to our new house in Johnston County in 2021, we have had to scale back on the gardening “adventure” but in many ways, it is much more fun. We are trying to come up with creative ways to plant things (i.e. the cattle panel trellis) and experiment with some new and exciting plants for us (i.e. the lemon tree).
